‘Composite Washes’ assembles a six-year, outdoor and indoor collaboration between Jeph Jerman of Cottonwood, Arizona, and Arizona-born and now Albuquerque-based Steve Jansen (not Steve Jansen from Japan, not Japan the country). The improvised performance settings include alongside Sonoran Desert creeks, in view of Mingus Mountain, and live sets in Tempe, Arizona, and Albuquerque.
The set, housed in a wooden box in a limited edition of 34 copies, comes with five CDs as well as a DVD with three live no-res video/anti-fi sound performance documents: a pensive collaboration inside of Jerman’s Cottonwood studio; a drums and sax “free jazz in the desert” jam in northern Arizona; and an exploration and amplification of an abandoned semi-truck cab that possibly tumbled off a ledge, landing in a crevasse of desert boulders. (The digital version doesn’t include the DVD/videos.)
Two cover options are available. Along with the CDs and DVD, the set includes liner notes, an alternate cover sticker, and a one of a kind Polaroid.
